I suggest declaring April 1'st "Comedian Appreciation Day."
Currently April 1'st is "Practical Joke Day." We could improve upon
this. Comedian Lewis Black pointed out that the difference between
our country and Afghanistan is Afghanistan didn't have any
comedians. They were very serious about everything, and things went
awry. Their whole country was doomed because they didn't have any
comedians to point out what was unbalanced about their culture.
Comedians point out what is absurd about our culture and make us
laugh at it. They are an important part of what makes America a
success. They entertain us and they teach us about ourselves. I
believe we should recognize their importance and devote a day to
thanking them. April 1'st would be a perfect day to thank them.
